If you are looking for a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity then this may be for you! Oaknoll Retirement Residence is seeking caring, competent, and dependable volunteers to become a part of our growing volunteer program. The program requires a six month commitment and consists of a regularly scheduled shift.

Oaknoll provides exceptional retirement living and health services through LifeCare. We enjoy a culture of resident-centered service provided by valued employees and volunteers with care, respect, enthusiasm, awareness, teamwork and encouragement.

Activity Assistant
Oaknoll is an active retirement home providing recreational activities that build and help maintain the healthy social, physical, and mental well-being of older adults. These activities vary everyday and attendance fluctuates. This position allows you to assist, serve, and join residents in these daily activities. You may be asked to escort residents to and from activities, read to them, write letters play games, etc. You will need to encourage or seek out conversation from residents.
*Positions available daily,
10 a.m. - noon,
3-5 p.m., and
6:30-8:30 p.m.

Happy Hour Volunteer
Assist staff in leading our Oakcrest Happy Hour! Facilitate conversation, lead a game, socialize with our residents.
* Friday’s 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Musical Monday Volunteer
Share your musical talents with our Health Center residents!
*Monday’s 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Program Volunteer
Provide A/V assistance to presenters and/or escort residents to and from the program.
*Tuesday and/or Thursday’s 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Friendly Visitor
Our Friendly Visitor program partners you up with one of our resident’s who is interested in additional visitors. This volunteer position gives you the opportunity to connect and develop a relationship with one particular resident while providing the freedom to share your interest and hobbies with one another. After filling out a questionnaire we will do our best to find you the perfect visitor for you!

Pet Pal
Everyone loves pets! Countless studies show the positive effects that pets have on humans. Whether for social interaction, reduced agitation, memories, physical touch, or so on; all interactions are meaningful to the resident. As a Pet Pal you will visit our Health Center, Short Stay, and Assisted Living area. Oaknoll does require owners to submit health forms including current shot records (vaccination and rabi documents). We rely on you to know whether or not your pet is a suitable candidate to interact with our residents.
Day and Time are flexible.

Special Events
Special Events include birthdays, holidays, large programs, and any other fun celebration! Volunteer tasks vary based on the particular event. A key part to nearly all events, however, is escorting residents to and from such events. *Volunteer groups are welcome to assist in such events.

Technology Assistant
Do you consider yourself a technology guru or have at least some knowledge you would be willing to share? Technology is rapidly changing; Oaknoll and residents alike are trying to keep up! As a technology assistant, you will help our tech department respond to resident’s inquiries, teach residents how to use their electronic device, and more. The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding, and willing to teach residents about technology!
*Saturday morning or Sunday afternoons

If you are interested in health and well-being, Wellness is the position for you. As an active retirement home, wellness is a key factor for the Oaknoll community. There are a variety of exercise classes available depending on fitness level: TOES, Pilates, Boot Camp, Aquacize, and Yoga are just some of the wellness classes offered in a week. Assist our Wellness staff in escorting residents to and from class. You may be asked to partner with a resident who is in need of guidance or modification of select workouts. Other duties may include sterilizing equipment, participating in workouts, retrieving athletic gear for residents (weights, pool noodles, etc.) or escorting a resident from place to place.
